October 18 - Festival of the Falls

Hello everyone!  The Bloomingtones are playing their last scheduled show of the year on Saturday, October 18, at the Lower Cascades in Bloomington.

The program was recorded by I.U. Student Television in October 2007 during a bluegrass concert held at Cascades Park in Bloomington, Indiana. The interview and concert are nicely merged, and the program is divided into three sections. Thanks to the many students who taped, interviewed, edited, and otherwise put this together!

Spring 2008. We've been practicing up some new tunes

We've been practicing up some new tunes and are anxious to get out and play some this year.  First outdoor gig will be at the Bloomington Community Farmer's Market, Sat, April 19th around 11am or so.  Check the listing to your left for details on our upcoming shows.  We are still booking for 2008, so if you need a lively Old Time and Bluegrass band, send us an email.  See you around and thanks fer listenin.

We are sick and had to cancel the Pine Room

Seems about half the band is sick, so we had to cancel the Pine Room show tonight.  So if you were heading over there, you'll still have a great time, just will have no Bloomingtones to share it with.   Sorry for the short notice, we hoped we would wake up feeling better today, but instead actually are worse.  Thanks to Whit and Daisy at the Pine Room for a having such a great place for people to get together, eat some tasty food, have a few drinks, and especially for local bands to play.

See you all someplace next year.  HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!

Pine Room Show Canceled !!!

Hello all.  Sorry for the really short notice, but the Pine Room show tonight is canceled.  One of the Tones is out town, and two have manged to get really sick, which puts us down to unmanageable band levels.  Not sure if there will be music at the Pine Room tonight or not.  We're calling around, trying to find some potential replacements.

December 21st, it's officially winter!!!

We've got one last gig scheduled this year.  It'll be Saturday night December 29th at the Pine Room Tavern in Nashville, IN.  The Pine Room Tavern.  Otherwise, we are booking for 2008, so if you need a lively old time and bluegrass band, drop us an email.
We got to play on the radio earlier this month and had a grand time being the house band for WFHB 91.3's Saturday's Child.  I also got to a Roland White Bluegrass Mandolin workshop, that Jim Richter at  Richter's Digital Arts put together.  A great workshop and a couple of decent jams with Roland White.  A all around nice guy and former Blue Grass Boys from 68-69 timeframe, with great stories about the man himself Bill Monroe.  I'll throw up a few pics Roland White Workshop Pics I took on my cell phone.  This was at the Grant Street Inn, which is a wonderful little bed and breakfast located on 7th and Grant.  The Grant Street Inn.  Took some video clips too, but they are pretty low quality.  Look over in the right hand column for um.

November

It's November and we have a few gigs coming up this month and next.  Check the listing to the left for details.  We are working up a special Saturday's Child in December with Michael Kelsey at WFHB 91.3FM.  Saturday's Child is live on the radio every 2nd Monday of each month at 11am-noon.  We've done a couple of these since we've been a band.  The last one was Summer 2006 and we have two new members since that time.  It's always a great time.  Still booking for the holidays and early next year so drop us an email if you need a band for that special occasion.

Spring Mill

Spring Mill was a good old time!  The weather was on our side this year, and the crowds were great.  We shared a "stage" (technically speaking, a patch of grass surrounded by haybales) with another Bloomington band, Sweetgrass, and had lots of fun. In between playing, we walked around and heard other acts, visited the apothecary, chapel, etc., got some beans and cornbread, and visited with family (yay Egendoerfers!) who happened to make it down for the show.  Here is a link to some pictures from the Candlelight Tour: http://janssenjones.typepad.com/photos/spring_mill_sept_07/index.html

Follow up

Okay, two comments:

One, I finally posted some of the Max's Place pics Click this here or...>  (see album on left)...

Two, I just noticed a couple typos in the City of Bloomington Fall and Winter Program Guide regarding the Cascades Bluegrass Jam. They do list the correct starting times for individual bands, but just above, they erroneously state the date as Saturday Sept. 9 (Sept. 9 is Sunday) from 5-8:30. Please, folks, ignore this and come at 3 or you will miss a great show!   

By the way, the rain location for Sunday's show is the historic downtown Buskirk-Chumley Theater.  I don't think any of us would be too upset about this (as long as our fans still make it there).
